Atorvastatin
Atorvastatin is prescribed to reduce the amount of cholesterol in the blood by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body. Atorvastatin is taken orally under the brand name Lipitor. Cerivastatin Sodium, sold under the brand name, "Baycol" is effective at lowering LDL-Cholesterol as well as total cholesterol and triglycerides. It was voluntarily withdrawn from the market by its maker in 2001 following reports of sometimes fatal rhabdomyolysis, a severe muscle adverse reaction as a result of the product. The FDA received reports of 31 US deaths attributed to Baycol.

Crestor
Also known as Rosuvastatin, Crestor blocks the production of in the body. Crestor is taken orally and side effects can include headache, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, upset stomach and, in rare cases, severe muscle problems may occur. Pregnant women should not take Crestor as it may cause birth defects. Fluvastatin Sodium
Fluvastatin Sodium, sold under the brand name Lescol, is used to reduce elevated total cholesterol. It is taken orally and side effects can include upper respiratory tract infection, coughing, bronchitis, sinusitis, dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, headache, back pain, insomnia, fatigue and urinary tract infections.

Lescol is used to reduce elevated total cholesterol. Fast acting caplets are taken orally and side effects can include upper respiratory tract infection, coughing, bronchitis, sinusitis, dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, headache, back pain, insomnia, fatigue and urinary tract infections.

Lescol XL
Lescol XL is used to reduce elevated total cholesterol. Taken orally and sold under the brand name, Pravachol, Pravastatin Sodium reduces the production of cholesterol by the liver. Side effects can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle pain, jaundice, and cramps.

Rosuvastatin
Also known as Crestor, Rosuvastatin blocks the production of in the body. Rosuvastatin is taken orally and side effects can include headache, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, upset stomach and, in rare cases, severe muscle problems may occur. Pregnant women should not take Rosuvastatin as it may cause birth defects.

Simvastatin
Sold under the brand name Zocor, Simvastatin inhibits the production of cholesterol by the liver. Simvastatin is taken orally and side effects can include constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, heartburn, and headache.

Bezafibrate

Bezalip
